I, Ted Duboise have been in the restaurant business for 40 years. I’ve led teams in fast food, casual, fast casual and polished casual restaurants. Now, as always, I want to help other restaurants realize their full potential. I’ve been ServSafe Certified since 1998.

Through the years, I noticed there is usually a void in independent restaurants. That void is usually how to lead, manage and develop people. Sometimes there is a void in how to manage the general operations of a restaurant.

Chain restaurant organizations usually provide training to their management staff in people skills and operations. Managers working with other managers tend to learn more about how to manage people. But independent restaurants usually have only one or two management personnel.

Most independent restaurants are started because someone is a great cook or has great recipes that people love. However, success in the restaurant business today requires more than just great food. Good business savvy gets you a long way but great people skills are required to be truly successful.
